Thanks, Dave, for the congratulations! I logged in late for the cybermeeting and was greeted with congratulations for having been elected president of UIFP. I accepted the challenge and with the help of Pangasinenses the world over, as well as at home, we can make this global alliance of Pangasinenses extend assistance to our very own to help themselves. We'll be focusing on the barangays and extend whatever assistance we can share to the residents to help improve their livelihood. Surely, the Dugong CYF foundation will be a big help. We'll have a joint outreach programs in the barangays and try to spice up the life of our churches in the hinterlands.
I'm drafting the constitution and bylaws and writing the missions of this group. Foremost in my mind is the launching of self-help projects: goat raising, pig raising, vegetable gardening, household industries, etc. We'll be making surveys of barangays to find out the resources available. It's a big challenge to make a big difference in the lives of our people. With prayers and determination it can be done.
I'd like to request you to join the group. Go to www.pangasinan.org and hit the UIFP website to register. From a core group of less than 30 a week ago, we now have 81 members from most towns of Pangasinan. There's one rep from Umingan so Dave and Aie increase the representation.
I also wish to commend the group for its successful and enjoyable reunion last weekend. I enjoyed reading the camping reports, especially that of WI. During my time as a CYF in the early 50s, we did not have any camping activities. The army of Luis Taruc were all over and we did not take any chances. We enjoyed the summer and Christmas institutes instead. Those were the days!
More power to the Dugong CYF foundation!
