Kakabsat,
I'm happily enjoying my training with plenty of support. I passed by Tayug all the time on my bike (Willie, with all the dogs on the road, I wouldn't know which one is yours!), and also Steve's alma mater, Natividad Oriental Academy. I do my swim at Esperanza's Resort in San Nicolas. Most likely, my entourage to the race in Subic will be Jojo, Jesus, Ike and Blanche, my manang Luisa and husband Pastor Nick.
I am writing this message at an internet cafe at the huge mall in Urdaneta because they have broadband connection and aircon (I've now localized lingo) while the one in San Nicolas is dial-up, hot and has intermittent operating
hours.
We all enjoyed the little get-together at Manong Victor Ramos's resthouse in Natividad. Atilinda, sikan a ti mangdescribe ti kinnan tayo. Manong Peding Ramos was also there; he was the host along with Mama Puring. The place is postcard-perfect with its beautiful landscaping. It was also my first time to meet Ike's wife, Blanche, and the children of Jojo, Atilinda and Ike's. While there, we talked to Manang Aie, whom we'll meet on the 11th to visit Manang DZ's grave. We planned to go to the mountains on the 10th. Manong Peding and Mama Puring, thanks a million again.
Yesterday, I attended the service at San Nicolas. It was very touching to be there once again, to be at the place where I grew up, and to see the happy faces of old and young church members.
Noteworthy to mention are the cycling road hazards here--dogs, goats, karitons, tricycles, jeeps, people, palay drying on the road, kuliglig and much more.
Addanto manen.
