"Every child of God can defeat the world, and our faith is what gives us this victory." —I John 5:4
No matter what challenge you may face today, this verse should give you much encouragement. God loves his children and he knows us by name. What a comforting thing to know! God knew us before we were born and always knows all about us (Psalm 139:13).
But our verse has a very important proviso — we must have faith. If we fail to believe Jesus' teaching and his promises, and try to solve our problems alone, we can run into trouble. But when we consistently turn to the Lord for guidance, we avoid making quick decisions and take the time to think with the mind of Christ and the make wise decisions. That is why it is so important to regularly study the Bible, fellowship with other believers and pray constantly. Someone has said: "In happy moments, praise God.
In difficult moments, seek God.
In quiet moments, worship God.
In painful moments, trust God.
And every moment, thank God."
We can be so thankful that the Lord cares so deeply about our simple living. Jesus said, "Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith" (Mark 11:24). When you are faithful to God, your desire is to do his will, and that is the victory.
Father, thank you for giving me strong faith, so that I face challenges with confidence. Amen.
