Kakabsats,
This is only a 2-week late report so I hope I don’t get bashed too much. But I have to rush it before a report from the Dugong CYF General Assembly, held a week later than ours, comes out, sakbay a maunaanak.
We, CLCYFers in southern California, had our little fellowship on the 23rd of last month, and once again, Dante and Elsie Aldana we more than willing to open their home in Murrieta as the venue. Our guests of honor were none other than our very own mama Puring Ignacio, son Don, his lovely wife Dainty, and their 3 wonderful sons. There were 26 of us altogether who attended, the youngest being Lea’s daughter Samirah, while the oldest was a toss between mama Puring and nanay Rosita, Elsie’s mother. Steve and Aleli drove 6 hrs from northern California to share their warmth of brotherhood. Those who were gistayan nakaumays were Daisy, Lorraine, Willie and Aie Jr. We all pitched in for the food and, as usual, the Lord has been gracious (nagkurang...ti pagikabilan ti iyawid). And of course, not saying being the bests but to the advantage of being the writer, ibidak met a diay intuno a tarongko ken tuyo.
During an informal chat, we have agreed to resuscitate our challenge to our kakabsat nga adda dita RP. I’m sure this challenge was already presented to the GA a week ago, but for those who were not able to attend and haven’t heard, please allow me to again present it.
We have agreed to challenge CLCYF to come up with viable, short- to mid-term projects for our stateside group to support. When certain projects have been identified for this purpose, since we are all busy as bees, may we suggest the idea of hiring a part- or full-time paid projects coordinator tapno maipapuso a matamingda dagitoy a projects? Separately from the above, we also talked about sponsoring fruit and lumber trees to be planted at the campsite donated by Mngs Vic and Ped Ramos in San Nicolas. Likewise, we toyed with the idea of a paid part-time TLC provider to those trees. No aniaman ti mapagnunum-muanan ti konseho, pakammuanda kami met coma apo.
Incidentally, mama Puring and co. came to the States for the Ramos clan reunion and Mng Victor Ramos’s 60th birthday celebration in Las Vegas.
Atilinda, thanks for keeping us updated during the GA, such as the makapakatays nga uong and bunog from Sapinit for supper. I forwarded your txt messages to some of our kakabsats here. I heard that the mainstays jammed on The Boxer, Bye Bye Love, Teach Your Children, etc but were fumbling for the lyrics of Asin’s some kalikasan song. I was there with you in spirit. Adda pay gayam special guestsyo from American Samoa. Very nostalgic kano.
Lastly, we are nearing the 2nd CLCYF USA Summer Camp, which will be held on the last weekend of next month. So mark your calendars–June 24-26th --for fun and devotion atop Mt. Wrightwood. For those concerned, expect to receive your respective assignments from prez Nick Mina soon.
This is all. Thanks for reading.
I remain,
Boni
