Hello Everyone!

We had another wonderful weekend at the San Onofre Beach Campsite (thanks to Manong Nick for arranging the accommodations) where we got together to plan for the upcoming CYF Camp USA. Attendees included Manong Nick and Imelda and family, Manong Boni and Vicki and family, Manong Dante and Elsie and family and of course yours truly with my dear hubby Ted. Although we had a cabin that was walking distance to the beach we also set-up a few tents beside the bonfire (which was our barbeque grill as well).

There was SO MUCH food (caldereta, pork rib barbeque, chicken barbeque, kari-kari, sisig, spaghetti, arroz caldo, tilapia, trout, pinakbet, dinuguan, bibingka, cassava, etc.) and we all ate what seemed like every hour of the day. In between the eating we reminisced about our CYF days in the Philippines. We also played mahjong and pusoy. Saturday night we had a short devotional that was led by Manang Elsie and sang traditional Christian songs with Manong Nick playing the guitar. Yes, we felt like we did almost 20 years ago!

In our meeting we discussed possible options for a venue. I had suggested Camp Wrightwood a Methodist owned camp with cottages and amenities for big get-togethers that members use for camps (my kids go there for their summer camps). We were also excited about this venue, but unfortunately I just found out that the waiting time for making a camp reservation there is actually 2 years. So I guess we need to go back to the drawing board. We did agree on a tentative date: June 18-20th, 2004 (the third weekend of June) and would appreciate your input. We will keep you all posted!

I guess that’s all for now. Regards!
