Better late than never... Happy birthday to manong Nick Mina last January 22nd (also to my neice Yssa Mae {Elma's daughter} on the same date also my nephew Francis Marc on the 11th {Jun's son}). Actually manong Nick's celebration was last Sunday January 18th (in memory of his late dad and mom who had theirs on the 18th and 20th respectively). We were privileged to grace this special ocassion along with Mirriam and Mark and their two kids, Lorraine and Ted, Vicky and kids (unfortunately, Boni had to work that day kaya wala siya)and a family from the Mina's church. . Ang daming pagkaing niluto ni manang Minda, kaya yon, we all ate to our heart's and tummy's desire, ha ha ha.

After lunch, we had a short meditation and sharing time which we started with songs and prayer. Manang Minda shared us an inspirational insight which she beautifully delivered. Mirriam Mina Mills, also shared her experiences about starting your day with God, and about stewardship which gave emphasis on tithing, that is giving one-tenth of your income to the Lord. Because of the limited time not everyone like the kids, manong Nick, Vicky, Lorraine, Ted, Dante, and I was able to share his/her experiences. But thanks God, through this boardroom, we can tell with everyone what we are supposed to have shared on that particular ocassion, and here goes... On the 2nd day of the month (January 2, 2004) when Dante and I spent quiet time together through the Bible, (we were then using "Our Daily Bread" for reference) we came across the subject of "Noble Plans". So often we enter a new year with hopes, desires, and resolutions than can be the seeds of positive change. It's a sad fact that more often than not we are not aware that the key to what actually happens in our lives is in making definite plans which involves thought, purpose, and effort. What was so amazing though is that both of us have the same thing in mind and that is to be more faithful to give the Lord's tithes. Tithing is the only plan that we can think of at that time to honor and please God. This is faith in action. So when manang Minda and Mirriam were talking about giving the Lord's one-tenth of our income, I can't help but praise the Lord quietly. Yes, dear friends, you may want to ponder on this insight of tithing and giving, so let me refer you to the book of Malachi 3:8-12; 2Corinthians 8:7;Luke 6:38;1Timothy6:18-19;. There are many more biblical scriptures that support this subject like in Proverbs 22:9: Psalm 112:5;116:12 Deuteronomy14:23; 8:18; 16:17. But above all these scriptures, there's nothing more convincing about gracious giving than internalizing in us John 3:16. God gave His Son's life to us, and what is He asking of us, just a tenth of what He had given us.

By the way, the last part of that ocassion was about the forthcoming CLCYF Reunion which is definitely scheduled on June 25-27, 2004. The venue, however, is not yet settled although there were two propositions; Yosemite National Park in northern California or Paradise Point Resort and Spa in Southern Cali (San Diego). The later though is mukhang malabo because the prize seems to be beyond everyone's budget. When Dante called, he was quoted a special prize of $499.00/night for 4 people to occupy a garden bungalow suite. Granted that we take two suites that's $1000/night and if there are 40 of us 32 others will be charged an additional $20/each. Roughly we are estimating $3280 for the suites only, plus overnight parking fee is $14/day and guestroom tax is 10.55%. THIS IS TOO MUCH . Kaya siguro we'll just go to Yosemite. Lorraine, hope you already made the reservation sa Yosemite as agreed upon, regardless.... manong Boni, adda pay it i-suggest mo nga prospect place? awan ka met gamin idi. tarbaho kan tu met nga tarbaho. Anyways, the next meeting will be here in our house on March 13. Our new address is: 9908 Hovland Square
San Diego, CA. 92131

Also, we'd like to update you with the Trust Fund contributions/donations. So far, as of January 18, 2004, we have a total collection in the amount of $880.00 from the following: Boni & Vicky Gulla $120 (June03-Dec03)
Steve & Aleli 300 (Jan03-Dec03?)
Nick & Imelda (Minda) 140 (June03-Jan04)
Ted & Lorraine 120 (Jan04-Jun04)
Mirriam & Mark 20 (Jan04)
Danielle Aldana 60 (alkasiya)
Dante & Elsie 120 (Jun03-Dec03)
Most of the members pledged $20.00 a month for the CYF trust fund. If you are not convicted to do it, you can give one time gift or donation. Any amount is highly appreciated and more than that, is a delight before the sight of the Lord as long as you give it with a willing and a cheerful heart. It's not the amount that counts but the spirit.

Lorraine & Ted are going home to the Philippines on March 28 and we have decided to just send them the collection and give it to manang Aie. Sapay la koma ta matignay ti puso yo kakabsat nga agited para iti daytoy nga aramid. Can we count on your support, please??? We are praying hard that we'll at least meet the quota in the amount of $1000, but it would be a lot better if we can exceed it.

okay ngarud, agyaman kami unay kadakayo amin. May the good Lord blesses you all more abundantly.

All because of Christ,
Dante & Elsie
