Mga Kadugo,
Naimbag a bigat. The day looks promising and so I won’t start with a litany of my present woes. Just want to keep a promise (please don’t count the days between!) before I pick everything up again. I allowed myself a long night of sleep and I feel better.
I was not able to make it to Natividad for Papa Beato’s first death anniversary yesterday but I was glad Atilinda kept me posted. She was there with Emy, Peps, Jess, Annie, Blessing.
Here’s more about the Saturday meeting.
There were 20 of us including 4 next generation dugong CYF. As usual I got there first…Manang Puring was serenely waiting beside her bahay kubo.
Of course you’d want to know who came. According to the order of their apprearance: Manag Puring, Aie, Atilinda with Leanne, Peps, Jess, Annie, Sam Y (he came from Urdaneta in a tricycle, kankantiawanna ni Arnel ta nalabsanna idiay dalan), Arnel, Bibsy, Sam Y, Delio with Aldrin, Manong Ped, Mark with Con-con and Mark, Jr. , Pros, Sam Q. and Likha. I brought chicken pork adobo, Atilinda pinikpikan nga tinolang manok, Baguio veggies for salad and rellenong tahong, Arnel cake and bags and bags of mais nga nalingta, Peps green mangoes from her arubayan. If that wasn’t a Dudong CYF feast, I don not know what is!
We started with a short meditation and reflections that focused on life’s surprises. It was led by Peps. We all shared our varying experiences and concerns, apparently all surprises in that they were not expected…but we all affirmed one thing…God’s faithfulness…and another, the power of prayer. We agreed: by faith nothing need surprise us….love and hope prevail.
The meeting covered the following:
Budding income generating enterprises. The tilapia production yielded only some 11 kilos of "dwarf" tilapia. Inwaras laengen ni Jess kadaguiti Dugong CYF in San Nicolas and Tayug. Looks like there is not much hope there: nakunaanda tayo nga nagkammel ta adayo met idiay balay da Jess ken saan nga running water diay pupukan, just rain catch basin that gets dry during summer. So that’s that. On the other hand, the pilot candle making of Jess (and Sam Q.) needs further strengthening in terms of marketing. Peps is lending a hand to improve on the marketing strategies.
Finances. Our Dugong CYF Alkansya campaign will be assessed during the General Assembly. Otherwise, our Trust Fund in the Bank remains at Pp 173,000. Saan pay nga na update ni Bibsy diay Bank book, isu nga manayunan pay dayta iti interest earnings. Total cash on hand and in bank is Pp185,836. We have Pp 25,000 in short term investment (allocated for the access road). I can give you a more detailed report next time..I have a copy of Bibsy’s fianncial report.
Access Road. Hopefully, masango nga palpasenen within this quarter. Arnel and the rest of the guys will see to that.
Annual Conference. The Annual Conference will be held in Bongato on April 12-16, 2004. Saan tayo pay nga kaya koma ti mangted given our present financial resources. However we all think it’s good if we could and Steve came to the rescue. Last year, as I mentioned in my earlier reports, those who attended passed the hat and were able to donate some amount. This year, we will be sharing the cost of one meal (Pp6,000), hopefully to be deducted from the meal fees to be charged each delegate. Thank you Steve.
We also decided to give a Certificate of Gratitude, in the name of the Conference, and UCCP pin to all the Pastors who will be retiring come Conference time. This will be coordinated by Bibsy and Arnel.
First General Assembly. As announced earlier, we will have it on April 29-30 at Pook Nalinnaay in Natividad (Manong Vic’s place). Membership campaign is on going. Kanya kanyang toka ng Parish. Reminder to those across the seas: Please send in your accomplished Membership Forms. Refer to Report Part 3. Will post detailed program later.
First Dugong CYF Foundation Anniversary. We did not plan a get together but we agreed to have a Circle of Prayer on that day. Wherever you are on April 1, 2004, let us all have a quiet prayer time 6-7 in the evening and pray for God’s blessing on all our collective plans and concerns. Send in your prayer requests.
We have not set a date for a possible another meeting before the General Assembly but we will keep you posted.
Your one liner comments, suggestions, feedback, PLEASE.
Shalom everyone.
Aie
