Fencing is NOT about winning points, it is NOT about making the buzzer sound, it is NOT about making the light come on.

You only need to win tournaments if you plan to become a coach and wanna have a nice CV for it.

However, participating in tournaments is a great opportunity to face new opponents, and competition experience is a very important in a students development as a fencer.

Most folks don't really have more than 2 to 3 moves they use well, which makes meeting new people very important when it comes to seeing different techniques/styles in use.

Anyways, enuff of this, I'll write again soon to rant.
