Subject: A Letter From Mason - URGENT READ

I sent a letter to Steve, a guy I honestly respect and appreciate due to the fact that he reads the email sent to him, unlike Kiley. The first section is my message, and then his response. It has some info, a bit of insight that maybe Chuckie said something to rub someone in the upper levels the wrong way. That sounds about right, its the kind of guy Booms is, but still not enough to deserve to be fired and the listeners not informed. I'm still infuriated about this whole situation, but I'm glad to know that someone will take the time to respond to us and not become a fricken primadona about it.

Steve,

Thanks for having the guts to actually answer emails being sent in to the show. I hope you understand that none of us (the fans of Chuck Booms) have any kind of personal grudge against you nor hold you responsible in any way. From the moment your name was stricken from the title of the show, I knew you had zero to do with Booms not having his contract re-newed or this "new direction" the show is supposedly taking. I can't say the same for Kevin. I know that sounds like a horrid thing to say, and you can't comment on that, but it needs to be said and evidence supports my opinion.

I can tell you're a bit sore and taken aback by Chuckie being let go, but there isn't much you can do but your job and make the show as best as you can. I think you that your time will come to be pretty big in FSR, but the Kevin Kiley show is going absolutely nowhere. I refuse to ask you to not take an offer if you are given one, because it would be unfair to do so. Just know that the fans of Booms will not rest until he's back on the air, somewhere, and if/when he comes back on another network, we mean no disrespect to you when we tune in to that show instead of Kevin's. It isn't your fault and no one who has half of a brain and supports Chuck would blame you. The calls will continue to come, the emails will keep pouring in, and the shouts for Auto Zone to drop the show will never cease... but none of this is to hurt you personally. Hope you understand that, and understand what kind of a human being Kevin is. Peace.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the note.

I'm hoping that all this stuff doesn't hurt Chuck in the long run. I overheard somebody in the corporate offices today say, "Chuck Booms will never work for Clear Channel ever again." That's pretty scary. Clear Channel owns Fox Sports Radio, Premiere Radio, and over 500+ radio stations around the country. The business is such that we (as talent) just can't afford to piss these guys off.

I don't know what happened between Kiley and Chuckand Fox, but Kiley has nothing bad to say about Chuck on or off the air. After Chuck started calling up different stations and letting Kiley have it, I expected that Kevin would fight back. He just keeps saying that he respects Chuck's talent and that he will take the high road.

As far as I know, my last day will be Friday, and it will be a relief to have the week over.

Thanks.

Steve Mason
