It's easy to be a ref., however it's not easy to be a good ref..

What I mean a good ref. is being a ref., you need to be a good middle man to keep everything under control.
First, you have to be fast and quick. Not that you have to run fast or move quick, is that you have to make your judgement fast and keep the game pace smooth and quick.
Second, you have to play fair! You cannot cheat, ie. giving out someone else's position to their counterpart cannot be toleranced.
Third, safetly! You are the one should try to keep everyone in game safe!
