Subject: New PSA title added to the June 21st SLC, UT PSA Seminar

Its called the P.D.C. The Protection Dog Certification.

Its for all those personal protection/non sport dogs and or green sport dogs not yet ready for the PSA1. A short obedience and temperament test is given, all on leash, consisting of heeling about turns, heeling into a group, down stay in the group and returning to your dog. In addition a long down with the handlers back towards the dog.

The protection is a simulated car jacking with the handler and dog in the cab of a truck and the assailant reaching into the cab with a hidden sleeve on. The dog is expected to alert and bite with the intent to stop the attacker. An out will also be required.

After this the team will walk past a blind or other obstacle, on leash, that can hide a decoy and then the decoy comes out to attack. The dog is expected to attack and endure shouting and clatter stick pressure. An out will also be required.

This is the program thus far and final rules and procedures will debut at the PSA nationals in September. This trial will be a mock trial in regards that an official PSA certification of completion will be given not the official PDC title as that is still being finalized. The seminar will feature Mark Rowe who has titled dozens of times to the French ring III level and was a Police K9 officer in Los Angeles. The seminar will be heavily body suit oriented but any dog will benefit from attending. Cost is $50.00 for an all day session on Saturday including one dog. Additional dogs are $10 dollars each up to $80.00. Sunday training is exactly half price with the mock trials happening end of the day Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you,
