Francis and Sam did the Mondio I routine with Gubby, then Clutch in rapid succession. Clutch has less control than Gubby because he has less training, perhaps for this reason he comes in faster for the bite and hits slightly harder. Clutch would do well in a hardest hitting competition, he really bangs. Gubby's guard of object is a lot more polished than Clutch's. In fact some experienced Ring people were saying that Gubby's guard of object is better than some of the best Ring dogs in the country. Still, Clutch did well in this exercise.

Gubby is fast in all the routines. He bites hard and is a very physical dog. In the retrieve he picked up a rubber lobster toy, very swift and sure. He clamped down on it and let up a few times, not so much chewing as bearing down. I assume a Ring judge would take points off for anything other than a calm grip however. Gubby doesn't clamp down like that unless the object is soft. Clutch retrieved a weird pom-pom thing with streamers. He tore chunks of it off as he picked it up. They had him retrieve something more solid and he was fine. I can see that Bulldogs may have problems with fragile retrieve objects.

Going over the pallisade saw Clutch trying to smash through it. I have had this problem with the hurtle. The Bulldogs like to smash through jumps. Fran is right about special training techniques for Mondio Bulldogs.
