Nasdaq trying to lure companies from NYSE
Bloomberg News
Posted on Wed, Nov. 12, 2003

NEW YORK - Nasdaq Stock Market Executive Vice President Chris Concannon said the company is expanding efforts to lure New York Stock Exchange-listed companies, hoping to capitalize on turmoil in the wake of Richard Grasso's ouster as NYSE chairman in September.

Nasdaq is adding to the number of people who are making calls to NYSE companies, with administrators pitching in, Concannon, who heads Nasdaq's transaction services unit, told investors on a conference call.

``We are being very aggressive with New York right now, given our opportunities,'' said Concannon, a former Securities and Exchange Commission lawyer. ``For the first time in a long time, Nasdaq has launched an offensive approach.''

The Nasdaq is trying to attack the heart of business that provides revenue to the NYSE and its members
