September 21, 2004: 5:40 PM EDT LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Walt Disney Co. board of directors said Tuesday it expects to find a chief executive to succeed Michael Eisner by next June and would consider both outside executives and Disney Chief Operating Officer Bob Iger for the position. In a statement issued after a regular meeting,Disney's (DIS: up $0.28 to $23.41, Research, Estimates) board expressed its "strong support" for Eisner, who has announced he will step down when his current contract ends in 2006. Dissident investors have called on the board to force Eisner to step down earlier.
