Those flaps, however, didn't prevent Luongo from allowing one of the softest goals of the season against the Leafs on Wednesday. With just four seconds left in scoreless first period, Luongo whiffed on a weak blue-line wrister from Robert Reichel. The Leafs chased Luongo in the second period and went on to an easy 6-0 win.

Florida was a good team when the Isles traded him there. This season they started out well but he didn't seem to be up to the challenge of making them a playoff team. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Ricky D. turns out to be the better player.

The 2000-01 Panthers won 22 games (22-47-13). That's a pretty bad team. Luongo had a record of 12-24-7, with a save percentage of .920. I hope RD turns out to be the better player, and from what he's shown lately that is quite possible. Despite Rick's promise and independent of his success, I still feel Luongo will be quite a player, despite his off-nights.

The year before he arrived and became their #1 goalie they won 43 games. That's a drop of 21 wins from one year to the next. Plus the team didn't change that much, other than in goal.
