Subject: What Does Rocky Know?

 I think that, in light of the report on WHAS-11 news at noon today, that Rocky needs to put out a letter to the membership detailing exactly WHAT, if anything, he knows about the company's restructuring plan, since he refused to comment to WHAS with respect to his statements published in the Detroit Free Press.

If Rocky was misquoted he should make that clear, not only to us, but to all local media outlets as well. Rampant speculation and comments such as those attributed to him in the Free Press have undermined his credibility as a leader in this time of crisis, and have raised even more questions than the failed health care concession package. In short, if he was taken out of context, he needs to say so instead of saying nothing.

For years I have advocated the creation of a communications representative within our local to handle issues such as these, and to advise the president on media strategies. If such a plan were in place today, we would be miles ahead of this controversy, and the members of 862 would be "secure" in knowing we have a coherent message and a step-by-step way of dealing with rouge reporters that create news.
