Subject: do you remember

this poem is dedicated to the beautiful and wonderful creator of this site, sara. i wrote this for creative writing, we had to think of a place that holds lots of memories for us and i chose a place that me and sara spend lots of time at when its warm. i hope you like it sara. feel free to add your memories as well. i love you lots!

you have shown me
wonders in a place
that i do not wish to leave.
a place that is so beautifully yours,
an escape from the rest of the world.
you have become a part of the erie canal,
and it has become a piece of you.
you have shared this with me
along with many memories
that i keep with me always.

do you remember the first day
that we were going out
and we sat at the steps
leading down to the water?
do you remember the second day
when we walked along the canal
and i was too scared to hold your hand?
do you remember the day
that I played Acoustic #3
and i was so nervous
and my mistakes were so apparent
but you were so touched
that you wanted to cry?
do you remember our first kiss
in nearby stooks park
our making out
under the trees
when no one was around?
do you remember riding our bikes
to see the lonely tree in the field
by the canal
and you told me
that this was your favorite place?
do you remember
when they put in the skate park
and feeling like a piece of the canal was gone?
do you remember lollipops and shopping carts
or the day when three rainbows appeared in the sky?
the destination of numerous walks
tucked behind the dpw and the vfw

these memories of us will never be forgotten
a piece of us is imprinted in that canal.
