Subject: Great Idea - It's what you'd expect from a Lerman!

Hey - this is very cool !

Here's the Karam family update:

We are counting down the days until Andrew graduates - 46 to be exact. His cap and gown come in next week. We are very excited for him, and Ray and I will pat ourselves on the back for getting him this far without a major crisis!! I suppose we should start considering him an adult - but that officially doesn't happen until he keeps his room clean! He's not sure where he'll apply for a job, but wants to start with the City of Phoenix in an internship management program.

No girls for Andrew on the horizon (although he's had to steer away from some 'crazy girls' at school who seem to think he's marriage material). He's quite focused on becoming independent and wants to have his own place (he says he misses doing his own food shopping - good, 'cause that's a mortgage payment in and of itself!). I guess we'll have to look forward to him inviting US to his apartment for DINNER!

Joseph is also doing great - he is scheduled to take his SAT's shortly and would like to apply to ASU or Univ. of Arizona in Tucson. He's been taking summer classes these last several years, so he could graduate early, but would rather stay through the end of next year to graduate H.S. with his classmates. Every once in awhile he thinks he'd like to go as far away as Nebraska for college, but then decides against it, so he's not real sure yet.

Interestingly, both boys feel deprived that they have grown up without snow. Andrew says he may end up in Colorado - he loves to ski whenever he gets the chance, and Joseph likes to buggy board.

Joesph is trying out for a Drum and Bugle Corp in California called Impulse, and competition has been fierce. So far, he is holding his own with the more experienced drummers. Five wanna-be's sit on the sidelines waiting to take his spot. Unfortunately, we do not have this type of competetion in Arizona, so Joseph, along with several other kids from Arizona, drive to Los Angeles every other week-end for mandatory practice sessions. Ray and I drove him there last week-end and checked out the L.A. sites while he practiced (Its a 6 hour drive from Phoenix). Joe is committed to getting into the Corp, so I hold my breath when he travels to L.A. If he gets accepted, he will spend the entire summer traveling and competing against other high level musicians (age 15-21 only) across the country. They travel throughout California, Nevada, Texas and the mid-west. We wish him good luck !
Ray and I are almost empty-nesters - which is inevitable. We'll report back to those of you trying to catching up to us -> it has its good and bad points. Sometimes too much quiet, but more time to do the things on our own agendas, and we enjoy the kids LOTS while we still have them at home. We never really counted how many years we had with the kids, until Andrew started H.S. Time goes by very fast once they graduate from 8th grade.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks, Josh, for putting the Lerman Family Newsletter together!!! We hope to see you all at Jill's Bat Mitzvah!!

Love, Deb, Ray and boys.
