True, The Process does have that layered aspect ... barely. It is a half-assed effort at best. The songs are too simple for me, in comparison with past Puppy songs. Also, the dark and angry sound on The Process is not as intense as past albums. It's got more of a "teen angst" feeling to it.

I feel as if they didn't really try for anything on The Process - they put a generic effort onto CD and put it out for people to buy just because it had their name on it. Don't get me wrong - a few of the songs on The Process are really rad, very well done songs which I will put on repeat. But the album as a whole doesn't deliver a very good listening experience.

The only thing I give The Process credit for is for NOT sounding like past Puppy albums. Although I wasn't too fond of the change, at least it is something different. And that is why, out of the plethora of music I love and collect, Puppy is my all-time favorite band: they never stay the same. They change and progress with new sounds on each album. You mentioned layers - that's another reason why I've always loved them. It's hard to nail down and describe their music to a "T" and compare them with another band - they're much harder to generalize when their music is usually so multi-layered.

The reason why I love Puppy is because I am the type of person that will wither and die if I don't have some sort of progression or change in life. I'd hate to stay the same. I am also pretty fucking multi-layered. lol. It's why I basically stay away from labels and scenes in general. It's all too stale for me.

It all equals up to why I have an SP tatt in the first place, heh.

I haven't listened to the whole album all the way through, as it hasn't come in the mail yet. Drat! But from what I've heard, it does sound just like ohGr.
