To Correct both of you E.B.M. is the acronym for Electronic Body Music it came from the title of a album compilation called 'This is Electronic Body Music' EBM 1 released in 1988 on Play It Again Sam Records, RRE and Network Records. "This is Electronic Body Music Compiled For You to Dance, Move and Enjoy.

There were a few sequels to this comp "World of Electronic Body Music" - 1989 "Another World: Electronic Body Music" - 1990 and "Another World Part 3: Electronic Body Music" - 1991

These comps had a lot of Belgium other groups from Europe and around the world.

Front 242, Neon Judgement, Click Click, a:Grumh,Cassandra Complex, A Spilt Second, Chris & Cosey, Borghesia, Weathermen, Skinny Puppy,

Front 242 & Front Line Assembly could be the godfathers of EBM but that can be debatable the best person to ask this question would be Joe Radio aka Ed klein of the Death Guild, I could say that one of the first dance industrial bands would have to be Severed Heads with 1983's 'Dead Eyes Opened' but then it could be D.A.F
