Ann, your breeder should not have let that puppy leave the nest before age 8 weeks. 6 weeks is far too young to leave it's mother, possibly this is why you had problems with feeding. Dry kibble is not suitable for a pup as young as this and you could have tried mashing the kibble in warm water. Also, you could have tried one of the "premium" kibbles available out there like Royal Canin, Hills, Nutro, Eukanuba - you'd have to check with your vet re: the best ones available in your country.

Regarding the type of diet you are currently feeding, I must urge you to do a lot of research, so that you get the amounts right, as well as balance the different type of nutrients, to make sure your pup develops at the right rate (not too fast, not too slow) and does not later on have bone problems etc. I have never felt confident enough myself to feed this kind of diet but I know there are many people out there who absolutely swear by it and judging by the condition their staffords are in, they're obviously doing something right! Try searching for the "BARF" type diet for dogs online and have a read there. That one seems to be the most popular - and most succesful - of the "natural" diets.
