Hi Stefan, yes, often it is very far to drive, but sometimes a breeder would send a bitch to another breeder via an airplane, other times, drive up and stay over (in a hotel or at the owner of the stud's house) for a few days. Some breeders (like us) are lucky that some of the best stud dogs in the country, are close by, and one can drive to them easily twice.
Of course it is very important to work closely together with your vet. so as to be sure that the bitch is in optimum time for a succesful mating, when going to the stud. The vet needs to see the bitch on alternative days from about 7 days after she has started her season.

On the other hand, if the first mating is highly successful (a long "tie") we believe it is not necessary to go again.
