Subject: zzr1100 derestrict?

Just bought a 1998 zzr1100-D6. I went to the NW 200 on it.
These really are a fantastic bike.
I'm told ZXR750 carb tops will de restrict it. Is this true? and do I just swop carb tops or is there more to it?
