He was tearing up the terrian as he caught up to the mare and nips her flank. He rears and snorts, in a playful way, then turned and gallops off in the opposite direction.

Some hidden store of energy suddenly came lose out of her and she pounded ahead faster, until she was neck in neck with Apollo. She ran always keeping even with him, but knowing she was going to fall back soon.

You're a good racing partner, he says, after a deep breath. Come with me to get a drink? he trots off towards the creek, and sticks his muzzle in the cool, rushing waters.
