I have to say that I have always seen myself as a Pakistani. Pakistani is what I am even if I was born in the UK. I have a long Pakistani heritage that I am proud of and that is not something I can just ignore and pretend to be British. I may be a citizen of this country but I have nothing much in common with the indigenous population. I mean this in terms of religion, culture, race and in general interests. Also I believe most people be they asian or indigieous treat me as a Pakistani, so to me this talk of feeling British is just government plans to move us away from our culture and more towards the British culture and way of life. I am not going to kid myself though.
