...between the worship of The Goddess and The God of the Craft. Both were revered and honoured, and though each of the Sabbats tended to focus more on one than the other, they were both invoked and welcomed. The overall neglect of The God is a fairly recent development, and as I said there has been a deliberate focus to correct that, except in those traditions that wish to remain focused on one or the other, or for solitaries who find themselves drawn to one particular deity.
I myself believe that The God was more difficult to worship after the burning times, as the horned God was associated with the devil. Stewart Farrar has said that during witch trials, whenever a true witch spoke of their God, the name satan or the devil was substituted in the trial records.
The Goddess on the other hand was more easily worshipped, as the Christian Church refused to believe that such a thing existed. In fact, many Goddesses (and even Gods) were Christianised to become Saints and allow "safe" worship, as happened with the Irish St. Brigid, initially a Goddess of fire, poetry and smithcraft.
It's wonderful that you have such a close bond with The God, and I can understand why you would be hesitant to print what you have learned on a public forum. Thanks also for your offer to teach me. Although I'm interested, I'm still pretty new at Wicca, and I'm buried under a vast amount of teachings as it is! So I'll take a rain check if that's okay, and hope I can contact you once I have learned more myself.
I do have a question though. I only have a vague understanding of Druids, and was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about it. Just the basic stuff that's okay to print in public. It's my understanding that Druids tend to be guardians of particular sacred sites, such as wells or forests. Is that correct? And do you worship nature, or is it more of a partnership with her?
