Subject: Clerks 2 and The Descent

Saw both of these films recently and loved them both. Clerks is more than just a retread of the original which I feared. It actually has quite a heart to it, along with all the vulgarity that made the original a classic. All the usual suspects are back with the addition of Rosario Dawson as Dante's secret love interest. She managed to add some class to a knowingly classless film. If you desire to see this movie, remember two words: Pillow Pants.

The Descent I actually saw on DVD before it even hit the theaters. It's been on DVD for a while in the UK and my buddy got a copy over the Internet. Damn fine horror film. It's a solid film all the way through with the simplest of plots: A team of female spelunkers enter a cave they aren't familiar with and encounter some badass cave dwellers. No pretense, no plot twist, just classic scariness the way it should be. From what I understand the American version has a different ending from the UK version. I know how both end and prefer the UK version better. Either way, it's still a solid movie no matter the ending.
