Subject: The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

I caught this documentary about trying to achieve the high score on an arcade version of the classic video game Donkey Kong on G4 the cable gaming channel and I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I really enjoyed it. I won't get into all of the specifics here, but the documentary does a good job of giving you one guy to root for and one guy to villify. Who would have thought that you would root for someone to reach the "kill screen" on Donkey Kong and you would be emotionally invested in them trying to score a million points and set a world record?

I will say that I liked this movie so much that I went poking around the internet for more information about it and, of course, there are plenty of discussions about how the story was manipulated, how the editing changed things and other information that kind of changed my thinking. Still, I liked the documentary for what it was and I highly recommend it. Sidenote: the guy who directed this docu. is also directing the Owen Wilson/Jennifer Aniston vehicle Marley & Me as his first big-shot directing gig.
