Subject: The SpongeBob SquarePants movie

I don't really "get" SpongeBob, it's kind of cute and occasionally clever, but for the most part it fails to keep my attention or entertain me. However, I have a six-year-old daughter and that pretty much demanded that I have to see this picture.

I'm glad it wasn't too long. I smiled a couple of times, but didn't laugh out loud once. My daughter seemed to enjoy it, so that's probably all that really matters. There was a dad-type sitting in the row in front of us who was just doubling over in laughter at every gag. He would just howl over everything. I thought I might be missing something and then I considered that his particular man must be a moron.

Bill Fagerbakke (of Coach and Oz fame) provides the voice of SpongeBob's companion and friend, Patrick the Starfish. He really has a great voice, but everytime I hear it I think about him getting his face slashed by Beecher.

We tried to see it on Friday night, but despite getting to the theater 30 minutes prior to showtime, it was sold out. I didn't take any chances for Saturday, so I bought tickets early for the same show on Saturday night and we got in just fine. Good thing too, since that show sold out too. The theater was just packed and the usher's actually had to ask people to move to the center of the rows, which no one really did.
