But I didn't find it out of place. Corny, yes, but I wouldn't call it ridiculous. It's not like the plane crashed and as soon as it hit the ground they broke out into song. Here is the premise behind the sing-a-long: the plane has crashed and the survivors are basically biding their time. Eventually, Dennis Quaid is convinced to put Giovanni Ribisi's plan of building a new plane into effect. The survivors work their asses off and make good progress getting the new plane constructed. During a lunch break after one particularly rewarding sequence, the chef turns on the boom box and is singing along to some lite-rock schlock. Sticky Fingaz "Jeremy" comes over and changes it to Hey Ya! and they start dancing and singing. Like I said, corny.
