Subject: Is it my turn already?
In reply to: Hugh Jazz 's message, "how about a best of 2004 list?" on 09:52:01 01/04/05 Tue

I actually kept a list of all the movies I watched in 2004, whether it be in the theater, on DVD, on PPV, or on TV and I'm sad to report I saw a lot of crap in the theaters. I also decided I need to get out more. The bad thing is, the independent movie theater is 30 minutes away and we don't get some of the higher-end stuff (like Sideways) near my residence. In addition, most of movie choices are made with taking a 6-year-old girl along.

And now in no particular order, my BEST of 2004 list.

Big Fish. A cute story that I liked. Not great, but compared some of the other junk, it makes the list. They should have used that Yes song (Captured/I've Seen All Good People) from the commerical in the actual movie.

Shrek 2. I thought it was funny.

Harry Potter. Enjoyable.

Spider-Man2. A terrific sequel.

Fahrenheit 9/11. It bummed me out, but a real eye-opener.

The Incredibles. Not quite what I expected, but a solid action film nonetheless. And it had personal favorite Jason Lee in it.

National Treasure. I liked it. Feel free to throw your verbal stones at me.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of... This was my favorite movie of the year. I paid to see it twice. Jim Carrey was outstanding.

BAD CRAP I REGRET:

Day After Tomorrow. What a convoluted mess with as many plot holes as digital effects.

Garfield. Embarrassingly not funny. Not a single joke. It did have Jennifer Love Hewitt, but not her cleavage.

Shark Tale. I took a 15-minute nap and missed nothing. Tried to hard to be cute, ending up being...not cute.

STUFF I SAW THAT WASN'T THAT BAD, BUT NOT WORTH SEEING AGAIN:

Walking Tall. Van Helsing. Troy. I, Robot. Polar Express. Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason.
