I saw it too as I am a huge sucker for zombie movies. I have the same complaint as you, zombies should not be able to run and jump. At times, they looked like the undead version of a moshpit at a SlipKnot concert. However, that is the only real complaint I have. I would have preferred a larger back story and possibly some better explanations, but that is more personal preference than actual beefs.

Everyone is going gaga over Sarah Polley and she was fine. However, Ving Rhames is the man! I would watch Rhames sell women's clothing on QVC. Such a powerful presence, he just takes over the screen when he appears.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall the word "zombie" spoken once during the entire film.

The original wasn't very good. It was made on the cheap and it was obvious. The original was more a social commentary on American consumerism than an out-and-out horror movie. It had its moments, but with a litany of actors that were never heard from again, poor writing and shoddy effects, it is entirely forgettable.

Disturbing is a good word for the movie. I didn't feel right the entire night after I saw it. I saw it at the 4pm matinee and I counted AT LEAST 5 children under ten there, including 2 that could not been more than 5. What are people thinking? I know it's "just a movie", but that excuse doesn't fly with a kindergartner watching someone get eaten alive by zombies. I checked on the little girl 2 rows behind me at one point and she looked scared out of her wits. What is with people?
