I saw the Celtics play my beloved Indiana Pacers back in 1985. While I have always been a hometown fan, there was no denying my love for the Celtics and I went to the game rooting for the Celtics, much to many other young fans chagrin.

The Pacers were up from the second quarter on. Steve Stipanovich was having an unusally good game, working on a triple-double. Bird was somewhat quiet all night, scoring only twenty-something points. With ten seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Pacers were up 126-124.

After calling a time out, Jones sent his team back out to the floor with possession. Bird casually claimed six points in ten seconds and left the floor like he had done it a million times. It was at that point, only ten young years old, that I realized that Bird was toying with the entire team the whole night.

The Pacers luck in the 80's was oh-so-bad, usually finishing last place in the division with regularity. This one night though, they were on fire and shutting down the multi-champion Celtics at every stop, even keeping Bird to a small number. Just when their esteem was at it's highest, Bird makes fools of them all in ten seconds, stealing the game from them.

One of my best childhood memories.
