I know I'm late getting to all of these movies, but one does what one can with a schedule like one.

I liked Kill Bill, but was not overwhelmed like I was when I saw Pulp Fiction. Bill is fine, but I think breaking the movie into 2 parts was a mistake. I know it's Tarantino's M.O. to show the film out of sequence, but it kind of left too many questions unanswered. Are we really supposed to feel sympathetic for The Bride? What is the true backstory? I guess we have to wait until part 2 to find out, but I would have rather sat through a 3-hour plus movie (with a small break) than left wondering about a character's true motivation.

I also had trouble commiting myself to Uma Thurman as The Bride. I kept trying to come up with a better choice and even though I didn't bother doing it, I still was left wondering if she was the right gal for the job. She just seems gangly and her face says more like I want to share an ice cream cone with you than I want to scalp your scaly head.

Maybe I'm becoming an old fart, but I was unimpressed with the Anime section of the film. Should've scrapped that whole thing, in my humble opinion.

That being said, from a visual sense, there are 2 extraordinary scenes in the movie. The first, is the silhoutetted fight against the cobalt blue background. Visually stunning. Just a terrific thing to watch. The second is the snow fight between Thurman and Liu. A beautifully shot scene with a nice payoff.

I will see part 2, mostly because I saw part 1 and because it's a Quetin movie.
