Subject: Get the unknowns for Superman and Lois Lane, I think.

I don't understand Producers/Directors need for a star in the title-role of a superhero, whether that's Superman, Batman, or even somebody like James Bond. In these cases people come to see those heroes - characters who've been established over time. You don't need a star.

I'd go for a total unknown as Superman.

For Lois, I'd go for an actress who's never quite made it - or only made it to co-star status. You don't want Lois overshadowing Superman. Also, I don't think Lois is actually that important to the mythology.

If you look at the cartoon adaptations of Superman and Batman, they're excellent for a very simple reason - Superman doesn't center on Lois, Batman doesn't on Robin. They have episodes where those characters aren't involved at all.

So using lesser actors can help accommodate that philosophy in the movies, both creatively and structurally.
