In reply to: Curt Hynek 's message, "Removal of basketball goals" on Sat, Aug 29 2009, 14:49:07

I agree with Curt.

My family and I use the basketball courts quite a bit. It's one of the main reasons we really liked this neighborhood. To make a substantial decision like this is irresponsible without notifying more homeowners and getting their input or their vote.

If the majority wants them removed, well then, I would have to concede. But even though the Board has the responsibility of voting on the issues, I'm not sure that this was the best issue for them to decide for themselves.

In reading the July minutes, I had no reason to think that this kind of vote would happen in the Aug meeting.

I feel that the board did not fulfill their responsibility to the entire neighborhood. This is a decision that required more attention from the community as a whole.

What if this removal of basketball goals doesn't solve the problem of kids hanging out in the common area?

What's next? Are they prepared to remove the playground equipment? Where will it end?
