I meant to say, how many times have you been cussed at by us when you confront us? How many times have we thrown garbage at you? I am up there almost every night and I have not witnessed this ONCE. How many times have you caught us playing basketball IN THE DARK? Considering that we wouldn't be able to see the ball very well, I am assuming that the chances of you seeing us play are very small. When you come into the commons area and confront us; One- We are polite, like our parents teach us, so do NOT talk about our parents like this, they have raised us VERYYYYYYY well. Two- When you confront us we are in the parking lot, play ground, or pool. When is the playground being taken down or the pool being filled in? You may not want to say this is an attack towards the teenagers like what was being told to my dad tonight, but this is completely an attack towards us or else you would be tearing down the other equipment that is also for the younger children or the adults(which you won't do since that is benefiting yourself). The police think you are completely ridiculous. This is the exact words of a police officer to the teens one night after getting a call about a fight in the commons area: "(putting his hand on his holster)HEY! Who is figh... wow... nevermind, sorry you can get back to what you were doing, just ANOTHER phone call AGAIN." He changed what he was saying to us because he realized it was just the football team running plays with each other. Sure, we can get loud, but we are still KIDS we still have lessons to learn and when you tell us to be quiet, we get quiet. We are being treated as if we are just a bunch of sluts and pigs. I have NEVER witnessed anyone having sex in the commons area, and do you really think that eliminating the courts will effect this? I could be wrong, but even if people are having sex in the commons area, I HIGHLY doubt it is going to be on the courts in the wide open. So once again, when is something going to be done about the playground, pool, or parking lot? If this is the kind of behavior you are witnessing. Also, you say drug deals and drug usage is going on in the park? If there was so much of this don't you think the cops would catch us since you call them there so much? I am one of the daughters that goes up to the commons area and I am extremely offended that you would say that this is the behavior that myself and my friends display because I can guarantee you are completely wrong about that, our parents have raised us way better than to throw ourselves at boys and do drugs. Even though we are not adults yet, we do have morals and we have respect for ourselves as young women. All throughout school I have been taught that in our country decisions are made by the majority of the people. In our neighborhood, information given to my father and my neighbor by a board member, FOUR families voted on the decisions that are effecting an entire neighborhood of 759 families. That is less than ONE percent. Willoughby Station should somewhat reflect the way things are ran in our country. Sure you may be sick of "catering" to the teenagers, if you consider having a basketball court "catering" to us. You won't be able to eliminate us from OUR own neighborhood. By taking down the basketball courts will just give us a reason to put up our own volleyball court or something of that sort. This is our neighborhood too. We live here. Please just give us our chance to present our case in two weeks at the next meeting. Sincerely, A Concerned Willoughby Station Teenager [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
