Shakespeare uses diction to illustrate the seasons and their importance. He used words such as "yellow leaves," "cold," and "bare" to describe the changing seasons of fall to winter. Time and season is important for this sonnet talks about a fading sunset, blackness, and a person's death. However, it also talks about love. So it could also have a hidden message about changing love that lasts through the test of time. Either way, diction played a major role in this sonnet.
