29May40 Lyman Bullard first flew the XF4U with the brand new P&W 2800 engine in Conn. This was the fastest reciprocating engine propellor driven aircraft aloft! Boone T. Guyton took over the test pilot's job and continued through many modifications. The Bent wing F4U with the INVERTED GULL WING was flown by the U. S., Brits, French and I don't know who else up to and past the Korean War. YOU DID NOT SHOW A PICTURE OF IT IN YOUR WW II LAYOUT! For shame!
