Where do you live? The reason Im asking is that because if you are close, it might be easier to go somewhere to talk to someone training Ring to see how they do it... BUT, it sounds like you are on the right track... You see, the dog shouldnt need help running down the field for the bite... That should be the easy part. It is the "ends" of that training sequence that usually needs help... The stay at the line is a killer, and making sure that the dog is targeting well, and biting well at the contact point is important too. Then there is the recall, which is another part that you will have to approach sometime in the future.

It sounds like you are doing the right thing though... This training is the same for gsd's and mals, in my opinion... In most of these exercises, look at what is going on, and train each piece, then put it all together... This exercise is a controlled down, the run down field to the decoy, the bite, the out and return... So see, its really several pieces all rolled together. As far as how long should you do this??? My dog is almost 6, and I still do it this way. It is easier for the decoy, easier on the dog, and more controlled. There is really no reason to do full lenght face attacks constantly. Every once in a while is fine just so that the dog can experience the whole effect, but I dont think it is a good idea to do it all the time. That is just my opinion. Dragging the dog in keeps those drives up, keeps your decoy and dog safe, and allows you to control the training situation.

@@@@@@@@@@@@We are using a bungie and a drag line at about 15-25', how long should we do this...are there other ways...(GSD)
How about with pups(mals)
