>Training a long send such as a face attack is very helpful if you do a lot of chasing with the dog. What I mean by this is that you start by using a long line and have about 6 feel worth so the dog can be out and vigilant. Then what you want to do is have your decoy intise the dog until they feel the dog is so focused and ready to bite then have them run backwards using the baton in front of them and the handler chasing down the field following the decoy. Once you have chased for about 10 - 15 feet or so stop and backup SLOWLEY continuing to tell the dog to bite and having the decoy follow you. By doing this it will cause the dog to become frustrated an the desire to run down and bite the decoy will be out of this world. Do this back and forth method about 2-3 times, then on your 3rd or 4th time run down with the dog and when you get approx 1-2 meters in front of the decoy allow the leash to go slack and your dog will go inot the bite with such force and desire that the next time you send your dog down the field make sure your decoy is prepared for a bullet. This will give the dog alot of confidence and also help the decoy with teaching placement. I would encourage you to do this for at least a few ekks worht of training before testing the actual downfield attack. This is the main technique that I use to begin a dogs face, flee, and revolver so that I can teach a dog angles, esquives, proper head turn during the run, and also 100% full mouth bites at all times. Later if you all want I will talk more about giving your dog a big chest with confidence building for the actual attack during pressure from the decoy, but for now practice this and you WILL see a difference.
Hope this helped.
