It comes back to the same thing: unless he has a documented history of violence or recent drug abuse his wife doesn't have a legal leg to stand on in regards to preventing him from seeing his children.
Besides, he found a way to sneak around and have sex without her finding out, so why can't he find away to sneak out and take his kid to the zoo?
If it were me I would get a good divorce lawyer.
