I have been a vegetarian for 12 years. I do not eat any meat, fish, or eggs. I’m all for my food being free of pesticides and herbicides. But I have a problem with chemical fertilizer (nitrogen) being lumped into the ban classification of “Organic” I grow a lot of my own vegetables and know first hand what a HUGH difference a little Miracle Grow makes. I have now problem what so ever with using products like Miracle-Grow on the vegetables I am growing to eat myself! I would never use chemical pesticides or herbicides but this is my point! The fact is the definition of “Organic” is so vague and very shakily enforced to begin with. Why give good vegetables a bad name just because they were carefully raised with only chemical fertilizers and not Herb and Pesticides?!? If I use manure, blood meal, or bone meal on those same vegetables its fine, and will meet the term Organic with no problem. I don’t want the blood of slaughtered animals all over my vegetables!!!!! I would much rather have chemical nitrogen sources!! There is no evidence that chemical fertilizers like miracle-grow are bad for the human body what so ever! Organic food is not even really organic half the time, the fact that they group fertilizers and herb and pesticides together as the same evil is totally flawed. Organic foods are just a total scam, a way for farmers to cash in on people’s prissiness!! If I thought for one second that organic foods were actually better for you I would not write this. As long as the only use the chemicals on the plants prior the fruit forming, (a.k.a. Tomatoes) and then after that do not use chemical herb and pesticides (though I think chemical nitrogen is still fine at this point) I can’t not see why even the pickiest vegetarian/vegan would have a problem if they bothered to see past the hype and educate themselves on the subject.
