I think the best tip i could give you is don't become a vegetarian to fast (at least that's my opinion)
Do it slow but practical.
I first stopped eating meat after a year i stopped with the sauce, one year later with fish and that it didn't take long to stop eating fish sauce also.
Now it's more than 10 years later that i have completely stopped eating anything and i feel great.
What i want to say is do it slow but follow the rules you make and you will see after a while you won't miss meat or fish ever.

The thing with the family is harder. I was only 12 years when i started and nowone at my family was (or is) vegetarian. It where hard years, i just ate everything what they ate but than without the meat.

Lucky they started to take me serious after a few years.
And now i do my own cooking. It isn't hard. And tasty things aren't only with meat.

As for recipes ?
The whole internet is full of them just look at any vegetarian site and you will find recipes.

It's a long and (sometimes) a hard but it's worth it. Trust me !
