Take it from a driver. The optare solo is a nice bus to drive but a nightmare to keep in service. After two years and 80.000 miles one of two we drive in essex 54 reg solo's is on it's third gearbox, second differential and other little things, mostly electronics fail on a daily basis. They are under powered and overpriced. The steering wheels right at the front the biggest mistake ever made. Where a bus is usually kept in service for ten years, I'd be surprised if these heaps make it past five.
