Subject: Sinamay stiffener and disguising threads

How do I get too much stiffener off a moulded sinamay hat? And what is the best sinamay on the market to buy because the one am using (straw stiffener) shows the stiffener on the moulded hat after it has dried.

What do I need to do to disguise all the threads showing on the sinamay hat. I made one of those freeform sinamay little hats, and I have twisted in into the required shape I want. But a lot of the roughness, thread and the wire is still transparent underneath the hat (the part that sits on the head), and I dont know what to do. I thought of putting some sort of linning inside it but I dont know whic material.

Help / advice would be appreciated.
