Subject: My take on day 1 of the sojurn

I haven't been on a river in over 20 years so it was a real treat to have the opportunity to participate in this years sojurn. I only had Thursday to play so I made the most of it. It wasn't the hottest day, or the brightest, but my spirits were high. The organization necessary to pull off such an event with registrations, presentations, food, shuttles, rentals, paddling, etc, and more food ...was awesome. Greenhouse Park is a gem and to see my city from the river was, well, neat! We even hit a little construction down around Coopersdale, (See, you just can't get away from it!), and a few miles downstream ticked off a falcon by just our being there. Paddling through the gap was an experience I'll remember the rest of my life. The take out at the end was a bit slippery but the hands that shot out so fast to help more than made up for it. Thanks to those who gave the guidance, camaraderie, education, great food, and helped me to make some great memories.
