Incident with jet pilot Derek Sharpe in the early 1980's as reported in the Manchester newspapers

I am trying to locate my half brother Derek Sharpe or his son also Derek Sharpe who was a pilot in a reported incident as the pilot of a jet plane in the early 1980's. Any information would be very welcome
