Shape and type of form is mostly just personal preference. Horseshoe forms are the "older" version I believe, and they can be less expensive $$ wise. They are only for shorter extensions though and you can't adjust them as well for different nail shapes and types. Other types are the reusable teflon and metal forms, all which have advantages (firmness gives some form phobics some reassurance) and disadvnatages (mostly gaps between form and FE of nail allows acrylic seepage under the extension). Most competitiors use the gold and black rectangulkar type though! So that is what I suggest using at first, unless you have a real prefernce on e way or the other.
