It was unusual in that it was a home in a residential district. It was close to the Mercado and was NOT like any other bar. As you entered what would be the living room, there was a bar with stools for the patrons. But what was interesting was that by going to kitchen which was next room, you had tables and could enjoy your beer to the smell of meat cooking in the chimney. There was cabrito azado as well as other cuts of beef hanging over mesquite wood. You ordered what you liked and it was brought over to your table so you could enjoy it with your beer. Price had to be reasonable but taste was priceless for NO restaurant could serve such delicacies... from chimney to you without any side dishes or silverware. It was open to the public but being a bar, only men dared park car and have family wait so they could take orders to go.Do NOT think orders made it home for they must have been eaten as soon as man got back in car. It was too good to waste... Am sure few of you remember the bar for it was converted into a restaurant and went belly up soon after. It was not the same service nor was it same quality of meats. For the few that remember.. enjoy the old memories.. For those who were NOT there... imagine it as something that was ahead of its time but that was lost in trying to make it bigger and better.
